Classical V-belts come with power ratings considerably higher than most available brands on the market. The compounds used to build up these belts are well chosen to match the stipulated power ratings thus offering distinct advantages regarding the increased factor of safety on critical drives.
Pix classical belts have a belt width to height ratio of approximately 1.6:1. The maximum permissible belt speed is 30 m/sec, which should not be exceeded.
Applications: Primarily used as replacements on industrial drives. Special application is V-flat drives where only classical belts are recommended. In applications where reverse idlers have to be used, classical belts are advantageous over other belts, because of smaller heights. |

Wedge V-belts are for higher power transmission at minimum space requirements. Can transmit power to an extent of 1.5 to 2 times the Classical Belts with the same top width. Properties: The top width to height ratio is 1.2:1. The maximum permissible belt speed is 42 m/sec. The permissible flex rate is around f =100 per second. Greater surface area relative to belt section ensures better heat dissipation. Applications: Narrow profile belts for compact, high horsepower drives and high shock loading on short centers and small diameters. For designing compact, heavy-duty drives where space limitation is a factor. |
